BCREA New Standard Forms Launch: Enhancing Transaction Efficiency and Compliance in BC Real Estate

In an industry that’s constantly evolving, the British Columbia Real Estate Association (BCREA) recognizes the importance of having up-to-date, reliable, and standardized forms to support REALTORS® in conducting effective and compliant transactions. With a commitment to minimizing disruption, BCREA has streamlined the release of new forms, clauses, and revisions into a single annual launch—unless exceptional updates are required—to reduce the number of changes REALTORS® encounter throughout the year.

About the Fall 2024 Standard Forms Launch

Today’s release includes a series of updates and revisions designed to keep BCREA Standard Forms aligned with current practices, regulatory requirements, and feedback from real estate professionals. This annual update ensures that forms are not only user-friendly but also comprehensive enough to meet the diverse needs of the real estate landscape in British Columbia.

Key Revisions in the 2024 Standard Forms

Among the notable updates in this year’s release, the following forms have been revised to reflect recent industry changes and the practical needs of REALTORS®:

  • Buyer’s Acknowledgement of Advice, Rights and Benefits: Updated to improve clarity and reinforce buyer protections.
  • Contract of Purchase and Sale for Business Assets Including Real Property: Adjusted for accuracy in business-related transactions.
  • Contract of Purchase and Sale of a Leasehold Interest in First Nations Reserve Lands: Two versions now include options for transactions requiring third-party approval and those that do not.
  • Contract of Purchase and Sale of a Manufactured Home on a Rental Site: Revised for specific requirements in manufactured home transactions.
  • Contract of Purchase and Sale – Residential: Enhanced to reflect the most current residential transaction needs.
  • Offer to Lease (Commercial) and Offer to Lease Addendum / Amendment: Updated to support commercial leasing transactions.
  • Privacy Notice and Consent: Adjusted to ensure alignment with data privacy laws and guidelines.

These revised forms are now readily accessible through CREA WEBForms® for REALTORS® to use immediately in their transactions.
